From what type of hardwood is the balcony lounge set made of?
The balcony lounge set is made of teak. The teak wood used in the production of the balcony lounge set comes from regulated teak plantations. Our producer has a valid FLEGT license for this. FLEGT stands for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade. The EU FLEGT Action Plan was drawn up in 2003. It aims to reduce illegal logging by strengthening sustainable and legal forest management, improving governance and promoting trade in legally produced timber. Countries around the world are taking action to combat illegal logging and promote good forest management. On the site of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority you will find information about the approaches that countries are taking, as well as about initiatives that cross national borders. How do I maintain the teak balcony bench?
Teak is the best wood that can be used in the production of outdoor furniture. This is because teak naturally has an oily and therefore dense wood structure. As a result, moisture and therefore mold and rot have little chance. We guarantee the best protection against elements such as sun and rain by maintaining the balcony furniture properly with Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector or Teak Wonder Teak Sealer.
If you leave the teak untreated, the balcony furniture will turn platinum gray in about 8 to 12 months due to weather influences. Color loss of teak wood is not harmful and part of a natural aging process because the top layer of the wood loses pigment. When the teak has turned gray, you can sand the top layer to bring back the color.
Is the balcony bench easy to assemble?
Both the balcony bench and the balcony stool are delivered disassembled in a strong box. The balcony lounge set is easy to assemble. The balcony bench consists of 7 separate parts and is mounted on both sides with a total of 12 stainless steel Allen screws supplied. Once assembled, the balcony bench is a very robust and sturdy whole. This also applies to the balcony hocker which is secured with 8 stainless steel Allen screws. An Allen key is included. Watch the assembly video of the balcony bench below. The balcony hocker has the same assembly principle.
