How do I maintain the teak balcony lounge bench?
Teak is highly suitable for balcony and garden furniture. It is a natural material rich in oils and resins, making it naturally water-repellent, strong and resistant to various weather conditions.
You can leave teak untreated outdoors; over time it will develop a beautiful grey patina. However, it is important to clean it regularly to prevent dirt build-up.

Is the balcony lounge bench waterproof?
The storage space of a balcony bench, hocker or storage box is not completely waterproof. There is intentionally a small gap of approximately 3 to 5 mm between the wooden slats, allowing rainwater to drain easily and ensuring proper ventilation.
We recommend not storing items that must remain completely dry. In practice, many customers use the storage space for:
- Balcony and garden accessories
- Plant pots, tools and potting soil
- Empty bottles or crates
- Outdoor toys
During heavy or prolonged rain, the storage space may become slightly damp, but it will not become completely soaked. How dry the contents remain depends on the level of shelter, wind direction and duration of the rain. An additional tip is to open the storage space after a long period of rain for extra ventilation.

Where are the teak balcony furniture pieces produced?
The teak wood is produced under the FLEGT licensing system. Indonesia and the European Union work together to stop illegal logging and the associated trade.
Illegal logging has a devastating impact on some of the world’s most valuable forests and the communities that depend on them. In 2003, the European Union published the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan. This action plan includes a range of measures to tackle illegal logging worldwide and promote good forest governance.
One of these measures is the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA). The VPA aims to stop the trade in illegal timber and ensure that only verified legally produced timber and wood products enter the EU market. It is a legally binding trade agreement between the EU and a timber-exporting country. Indonesia and the European Union signed a VPA on 30 September 2013, which came into force on 1 May 2014.
An important pillar of the VPA is Indonesia’s timber legality verification system, the Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu (SVLK). This system ensures that timber and wood products harvested, processed and exported from Indonesia come from legal sources and fully comply with Indonesian laws and regulations.
The teak wood used for our balcony furniture and accessories comes from SVLK-certified teak plantations in Indonesia. Our manufacturer holds a valid FLEGT licence and only purchases wood from officially certified timber suppliers. This ensures that the entire chain — from plantation to end product — is transparent, controlled and legal.
