It’s best to treat the bench before assembly, so you can fully treat each individual part before mounting.
How long the protection lasts depends on sun, rain and wind exposure. For optimal protection and a longer lifespan, it’s recommended to repeat the treatment yearly. Also remove dirt and standing water regularly and ventilate the storage space to keep the bench looking great.

Yes, you can leave an untreated wooden balcony bench outside in winter. Regular cleaning and ventilating the storage space helps keep it looking good.

The balcony bench with storage is not fully waterproof. A gap of 3–5 mm is intentionally left between the wooden slats so rainwater can drain quickly and to reduce wood movement. During heavy or prolonged rain, the storage area may become slightly damp, but it won’t become completely soaked. This is a normal result of the open design and does not affect quality or usability.
How dry it stays also depends on how sheltered the balcony is, wind direction and how long it rains.
We recommend not storing items that must stay completely dry during wet weather or extended rainy periods. It’s also important to ventilate the storage space regularly – simply lift the seat lid up against the backrest so air can circulate.

The teak wood is produced under the FLEGT licensing system. Indonesia and the European Union work together to stop illegal logging and the related trade.
Illegal logging has a devastating impact on some of the world’s most valuable forests and the communities that depend on them. In 2003, the EU published the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan, which includes measures to tackle illegal logging worldwide and promote sustainable forest management.
One of those measures is the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA). The VPA aims to stop trade in illegal timber and ensure that only verified legal timber and timber products enter the EU market. It is a legally binding trade agreement between the EU and a timber-exporting country. Indonesia and the EU signed a VPA on 30 September 2013, which entered into force on 1 May 2014.
A key pillar of the VPA is Indonesia’s timber legality verification system: Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu (SVLK). This system ensures that timber and timber products harvested, processed and exported from Indonesia come from legal sources and fully comply with Indonesian laws and regulations.
The teak used for our balcony furniture and accessories comes from SVLK-certified teak plantations in Indonesia. Our producer holds a valid FLEGT licence and only purchases timber from officially certified timber traders. This makes the entire chain – from plantation to end product – transparent, controlled and legal.
